Some people prefer light and calm paint colours for bedrooms like blue, pink or green to help them relax and get a good night's sleep, while others might prefer bright, energizing colours like yellow or orange to help them feel energised and motivated in the morning. 

Ultimately, it’s up to you to decide which colour best suits your personality and the mood you'd like to create. Consider how the colour makes you feel, and how it will fit in with the other elements of the room, like the furniture and décor. Current bedroom colour trends

According to our interior designers, the colour trends we are seeing more of for bedrooms will be bold, playful, and eclectic. Darker shades of blues, greens, and purples are predicted to be popular, as well as lighter earthy tones like terracotta and sage. 

Accents of bright and pastel paint colours will be used to add a pop of vibrancy to our bedrooms. As well as this, metallics such as gold, silver, bronze, and copper are also expected to be popular to add a luxury touch to the décor.

What are the most calming colours for a bedroom?

White and grey colour scheme

Starting with the most neutral and the most classic colour palette, white and grey bedrooms are the sort that’ll make your shoulders drop an inch as soon as your toes are over the threshold.

Fresh and clean, just like the bedsheets you cocoon yourself in night after night, these are colours to help your mind empty and to find your zen – just what we all need after a run-ragged day.

In colour psychology terms, greys are psychologically neutral making them a very restful colour choice for bedrooms. Grey is also a colour that recedes, making it a great choice if you want to maximise space in your bedroom.

You won’t be shocked to find that green is at the top of our list of calm paint colours for bedrooms.  In fact, more and more of our clients are seeking green bedroom ideas so they can have an incredibly calming and soothing space to relax and unwind. This is because green is associated with nature and can evoke feelings of comfort and peace. Should bedrooms be painted darker or lighter?

Well, it depends! First, consider how you want the room to feel, if you want to create an airy, relaxed feel, then a lighter bedroom colour can help you achieve this by opening up a space and making it feel larger. However, darker colours can absorb more light and can make your bedroom feel more intimate and cosy.

This bedroom belongs to our brilliant designer Ria who originally wanted a crisp clean and bohemian feeling space but later opted for a more dramatic and cosy feeling bedroom.
