You don't need to fully decorate the spare bedroom with huge trees and bushy garlands to make guests feel extra special, the magic is in the details!
In the guest bathroom, swap out the standard hand towel for something a little more festive and maybe even find a Christmas themed handwash.
For the bed, add in a soft throw which not only brings in the winter vibes but ensures your guests are warm and cosy and maybe even find an accent Christmas cushion or pillowcase to create festive comfort.
Finally, dot in a small festive candle or diffuser with a Christmassy scent like cinnamon, pine, or spiced orange to make your guests feel like they're sleeping in a winter wonderland.

No hosting setup is complete without a snazzy bar cart, so avoid the dreaded “Where’s the gin?” or “Do you have any mocktails?” by creating a chic self-serve drinks station. Whether it’s for mulled wine, punch, or soft drinks, here’s how to make it look stunning:
Start by pulling out an existing bar cart or carving out some space with a stylish tray. Display your nicest bottles front and centre (and maybe discreetly hide the less photogenic ones behind). Add a bucket for ice with a small pair of tongs, and set out little pots of garnishes like orange slices, cinnamon sticks, or rosemary sprigs for that extra fancy touch.
Make sure there are plenty of glasses within easy reach, along with a stack of napkins. Want to take it to the next level? DIY a small, charming sign that welcomes guests to help themselves – you’ll be the host with the most in no time!

When the inevitable food coma hits, you'll want to make sure your living room is ready for maximum comfort! To achieve the most snug spots, it's all about layering.
Add throws (faux fur or chunky knits work a treat) to sofas and chairs for guests to grab and introduce a couple of festive pillows – think deep red, forest green, or velvet for a luxe look.
To avoid blankets tossed here there and everywhere, have a nice basket nearby which can store enough throws for everyone - perfect for a post-turkey snooze.

We all love a festive movie marathon, but why not make this Christmas extra special and enjoy some valuable family time by making a space that encourages conversation?
Try to take the focus away from the TV and rearrange your seating to face each other or maybe a different focal point like the window or Christmas tree. If the whole extended family is coming over, you can add some pouffes or extra cushions on the floor - perfect for when the trivia games come out.
Top Tip: Use the coffee table as a centrepiece with snacks or games to draw people in.

Though you have most likely completed your Christmas decorating by now, you may be noticing some spots in your home that are a little bare. Our top tip to let these spaces sparkle is simply to hang a few extra fairy lights - by now, they're usually on clearance so you may bag yourself a bargain!
Especially if you want to create the wow factor as soon as guests enter your home, why not drape some lights down the staircase or across the hall.

A home that smells like Christmas feels like Christmas. For an easy festive scent that will make your guest feel festive as soon as they step through the door, simmer a pot of water with cinnamon sticks, orange slices and cloves on the stove. Or keep a mulled wine pot going – it smells amazing and is ready to serve.
Bonus: Light a few candles with festive scents like pine, gingerbread, or spiced apple for extra warmth.
Christmas Day walk = a tradition that comes with a side of muddy boots. So to avoid a hallway disaster, it's best to be prepared.
Have a dedicated spot at the front door for guest to remove and safely store their shoes, this could be a stylish basket or a simple tub.
You can also lay down a festive doormat that screams, “Wipe your boots!” - to give your guests a stylish, yet discrete hint.
And finally, keep an old towel handy for any particularly rebellious puddle-jumpers - you know the ones!

Nothing kills the post-lunch mood faster than scrambling under the guest bed to find Monopoly - especially if your guests are trying to take a nap!
To avoid the inevitable search for board games, unearth them before the big day, perhaps placing them in a social space where your guests can help themselves.

For easy, last-minute decorations that pack a punch, focus on quick wins with your coffee table and mantel. Start by draping a festive garland or a trail of fairy lights across the mantelpiece to instantly create warmth and sparkle – it’s a small effort with a big impact.
On your coffee table, anchor your styling with a tray and build layers: place a mix of candles for a soft ambience. Scatter a few mini baubles for a festive touch and tuck in sprigs of greenery like eucalyptus or pine for a natural, Christmassy feel. For a stylish yet fun centrepiece, fill a decorative bowl with pinecones, dried oranges, or colourful Christmas sweets – it’s simple, inviting, and delightfully festive.
