Izzy, our awesome Digital Marketing Manager, and her partner George recently took the plunge into homeowner bliss with a shiny new Taylor Wimpey home in lovely Hampshire. But, as any new build owner will tell you, these homes come with their own unique set of quirks and challenges.

Not one to shy away from a challenge, Izzy and George decided to utilise our fantastic interior design service where they were partnered with the lovely Rosie who helped create a home that screams 'them'.

A warm and welcoming hallway with hidden storage

This hallway was a bland white empty box and now it's sophistication personified!

Gone is the illogically located carpet, replaced with chic herringbone flooring that's not just a treat for the eyes but a breeze to clean after those muddy adventures with boots or little paws scampering around.

The bland staircase has now become a striking feature, thanks to the sleek black paint on the bannisters. It's like a magic trick that adds so much interest and character to the space.

And let's not overlook the stunning wainscotting panelling that wraps the room in a cosy, traditional vibe, perfectly complementing the cleverly hidden shaker-style storage tucked under the stairs.

Izzy DIY’d her own panelling, saving a hefty amount of cash - and this may not be as tricky of a task as you think! Get started with panelling your own space by checking out our guide, here.

The warm, neutral wall shade, complimented by the natural feel of the herringbone flooring, just makes such a warm atmosphere; these styles and colours are the perfect way to welcome visitors into

This living room is where Izzy and George's vibes collide spectacularly! Rosie was aware of Izzy's passion for all things emerald green but heard George’s concerns and made sure his love of all things sleek and modern were in the design in ways that complement each other.

“Rosie knew I loved a more classical design but was living in a new build. She also took the time to listen to me go on and on about my love of deep dark greens but this was going to be problematic in a space that doesn't get a lot of light. She suggested jade sofas and crisp white panelling in contrast against the cargo wall paint. I wasn’t sure until I saw the stunning 2D visuals she provided and then I was in love. It was literally me and my partner, embodied in a room.” Izzy

Once the couple saw the 2D moodboard they were delighted with the way Rosie had merged their two design styles in a room that really represents them. The emerald green sofa screams traditional charm whilst cosied up next to shaker style panels, but the room’s roaring into the 21st century with snazzy modern lighting and sleek black furnishings.

Rosie also played a pivotal role in tackling the couple's greatest challenge with this space: the layout. This room stubbornly insisted on being nothing more than a living room. By simply mounting the TV on the wall where it is able to swivel side to side Izzy and George can lounge on the sofa or chow down at the dining table, and there's not a bad seat in the house for TV viewing.

Thanks to this simple idea that the owners never considered, Rosie introduced a spacious sofa to the previously overlooked wall opposite. She ingeniously crafted a cosy haven for both humans and dachshunds to spread out in ways they hadn't thought possible within the confines of their initial layout.

Plus, this clever rearrangement now positions the sofa to embrace the garden view, offering a scenic backdrop for relaxation.

“Not only was it beautiful but Rosie came up with some ingenious ways to make the most of the space and now the room feels twice as big!” - Izzy

This space is functional AND beautiful. It's the perfect mash-up of old-school elegance and contemporary cool, proving that, yes, you really can have the best of both worlds. Well, you can if you have the expertise of an interior designer like Rosie.

The loft bedroom? Oh, it's the crown jewel for the new homeowners. This massive space was the biggest challenge as the be can easily feel lost end the sea of space.

The sprawling expanse needed to be more than just a place to crash - this is where Rosie had to think about functional storage that was also beautiful. And so the bedroom became host to stunning shaker-style wardrobes that could hide a small circus (which is only just enough space for Izzy’s clothes).

And let's not gloss over the pièce de résistance—a super king-sized bed in a bold teal that flirts with the jaw-dropping wall mural across the room, bringing in a splash of personal pizzazz and cosy vibes which can be hard to achieve in such a large space.
