Jourdan Dunn is a bona fide star; she is one of the biggest British supermodels right now, a complete globetrotter, devoted mother, astute chef AND positive mental health advocate. At My Bespoke Room, we thoroughly believe that a home needs to portray the personality of it's occupant, and when we were asked to be her interior designer, we knew there was no doubt that 28-year-old Jourdan's home would be absolutely beautiful and full of character.
It was an exciting project for both us as the designers and for Jourdan, herself. This is Jourdan’s first bought home that she wanted to refurbish herself - particularly as it's in West London where she grew up - and she was keen to put her stamp it. The period property, full of original features, would be transformed into a stunning family home that she could enjoy. We see her looking ultra glam at the Met Gala, picture perfect on the covers of Elle, Vogue, Glamour and W Magazine, but what does she look like in her home, when she’s Out Of Office, kicking back and relaxing?
Why online interior design?
As an international supermodel, time is a premium for Jourdan and she can't always be home for multiple meetings with a designer or to wait in for furniture deliveries, which explains why our interior design service was the perfect fit.
"With my busy schedule the convenience of the process was perfect, with just one meeting with Lucy she got my sense of style immediately. the whole experience was enjoyable especially the excitement of receiving my designs for the first time" - Jourdan Dunn
My Bespoke Room is a completely online service, but we do offer home visits for projects that may require more than one or two rooms, and would benefit from the designer measuring dimensions and taking the brief in person, such as Jourdan's. Jourdan had created Pinterest boards that gave us a good idea of the look and feel she was after.
Once the initial brief and chat with the designer is complete, the real fun starts. We have an online chat function to collaboratively share ideas between designer and client; this was perfect for Jourdan as she could log in from anywhere in the world and chat to her designer, Lucy, about her designs.
Design direction - Image credit: My Bespoke Room
The design direction was confirmed for each of Jourdan's rooms, and then Lucy got sourcing. Each room design was presented to Jourdan with a mood board, annotated floor plan, 2D visual (shown above) and a virtual shopping list, complete with the larger items of furniture right down to the finishing touches. Each category had 4-8 alternatives, so Jourdan could select her favourites and check out all on the MBR site - it was all very easy and she bought a variety of high street items, such as her sofa and armchairs to more bespoke pieces like her dining table and chairs!
The personal shopping team helped coordinate deliveries to Jourdan's home, around her busy lifestyle (to ensure a sofa wasn't showing up during London, Paris or Milan Fashion Week), and voila! Jourdan's dream home started coming together...
You too can shop all of Jourdan's looks on our Shop The Looks page, and have a home fit for a celebrity.
Open plan kitchen & dining
Jourdan's open plan kitchen and dining room brief was clear and concise. Competent in the kitchen, this is going to be a space that Jourdan spends a lot of her time, so it needed to be comfortable, practical, stylish, and above all, make her happy.
Can we just take a moment to admire the Flos pendants above her kitchen island?

The Swoon Editions yellow velvet chair adds that all-important warmth, complemented further by the Doris lamp from Anthropologie. The Doris lamp was a real crowd pleaser in the My Bespoke Room HQ, and when we saw it go out of stock before Jourdan had ordered, we made sure we contacted anyone and everyone at Anthropologie in order to get it back!
The open plan kitchen & dining room leads out into a gorgeous outside space. We needed to make sure there was a dedicated dining area, a cohesive transition into the kitchen space (that's where the velvet kitchen stools came in), and a seating area next to the original window that looks out into the garden.
Layout is crucial in any room design to make sure it looks great, but is also needs to be functional. Flow is incredibly important in designing a space that works, so you can move freely around the room like a river meandering across the countryside - pretty romantic ey?

If you're looking to achieve a good 'flow,' there needs to be enough free space to move freely around the dining table when the chairs are pulled out. You also want to ensure there's a clear and straight walkway from the room entrance, right through to the double doors leading out on to the garden, whilst also still leaving enough room to manoeuvre around the kitchen and seating space.

In the design, we included a sideboard for some extra storage, a large piece of statement art, and together with the dramatic ceiling light over the dining room table the whole scheme was cohesively pulled together.
If you have fallen in love with the supermodel's star style as much as we did, you can find all the products, from furniture to finishing touches, on the Shop The Look page, linked below.
Sitting room

Jourdan's sitting room is light and bright, so it was important to inject some colour, incorporate lots of texture and add plenty of character. Brass, deep blue velvet, faux fur and statement furniture gives an ultra-luxurious look to the sitting room, whilst indoor greenery adds life and an organic and fresh finish.

Including different light sources and heaps of soft finishes will always ensure a cosy and comfortable finish. The statement pendant light and floor lamp are perfect for adding a warm glow to the already light room, whilst still looking super stylish.
The faux fur directors chair... well, what's a supermodel's home without one?
You can achieve this glamorous look too, as it's all on the Shop The Look page, linked below.
Living room

We absolutely adore the transition from the light and bright sitting room into the dark and dramatic living room. The colours are the perfect contrast, and thanks to the abundance of natural light and additional lighting options, the dark walls don't feel dingy, they only add more WOW factor.
Black marble and bold patterns continue the drama and only make the room feel more lavish. The geometric rug gives the luxe room a contemporary and fresh finish, contrasting the opulent jewel tones, grounding the furniture and simultaneously lifting the room.
The only issue with this broken plan space is trying to decide which room you'd rather sit at one point!

The patterned love seat is a Matthew Williamson fabric, and perfectly complements the fabric on the Swoon chaise sofa. Without pushing too hard to find a pun, we're definitely swooning over this super comfortable sitting room.
Top tip: Painting over the picture rail and skirting boards lengthens the wall, making the ceiling feel higher and in turn, the room feel larger.

We're thrilled Jourdan decided to take our recommendation of painting the white fireplace dark, as it's a gorgeous continuation from the hallway, and isn't a stark contrast to the paint colour, ensuring a super cohesive finish.

Hallway

Much like Jourdan, her hallway makes a grand entrance. Jourdan had her heart set on the photographic artwork as her black heritage was always going to be an important influence in her home, so we made it our mission to find the limited pieces. A dark fireplace and dark woodwork adds to the impact and the orange chair is the perfect contrast and pop of colour.
We can't not mention the gorgeous Rockett St George chandelier. The moment Jourdan saw it, she knew that was the first thing she saw when walking into her first, personalised home. Despite it's size (it was a bit low for a 5ft 11' supermodel), we managed to make it work.
You can Shop The Look of the entire hallway below.
Thank you, Jourdan
